In February, Charleston native Jael Gadsden was awarded "Song of the Month" by SongwriterUniverse for her song "All I Need" (co-written by Kevin Randolph). This song is included on her upcoming second album, which she will release independently this April.
In 2008, Jael won the nationwide Lincoln Spotlight Grand Champion song writing competition with the song and video for her original song "Your Season." She received a featured track on the Lincoln site, and an opening spot at a 2008 tour stop by hip hop star, Common. (Read media coverage.)
Prior the contests, Jael has had songs placed in films like "Bring it on Four" and jingles aired on local stations across the country.
Other accomplishments include appearing in the feature film, "American Dreamz," appearing in a national K-Swiss television commercial, and winning various "battle of the band" contests in Los Angeles with the band Chiat Riot (formed at TBWA/CHIAT/DAY).
Jael is not only a triple threat, this talent also sings, writes, and produces her own music.
Her current album, "The Journey," features 10 self written songs (3 of which she co-produced) that explore feelings of being in love, being hurt by love, and picking yourself up when life throws you a curve ball. This album carries you on an exhilerating ride that will leave you energized, engaged, and uplifted.
Currently, Jael is performing in various cities and working on a new album. Stay tuned!
